Our Application Process
Apply
Applying is simple. Choose the role that fits and submit your application through our online system. You’ll get a confirmation once it’s received. Make sure your information is complete and accurate—this helps our recruiting team review your application quickly. We’ll take a close look at your background and experience. If there’s a fit, we’ll reach out to schedule your first conversation. Keep an eye on your email (and check your spam folder, just in case).
Connect with
Talent Acquisition
Your first interview will be a video or phone conversation with a member of our Talent Acquisition team. We’ll talk through your interest in the role, your work history, skills, and qualifications. It’s also your chance to learn more about the role, team, and hiring process, so come ready with questions. Be prepared to share why you’re interested in the role and in Red Wing, and do a little research ahead of time.
Meet the Hiring Team
If you move forward, your next interview(s) will be with members of the hiring team, which may include the hiring manager, an HR Business Partner, and other key stakeholders. Depending on the role, these interviews may be virtual or on-site. This stage gives you a clearer picture of the work and the team you’d be joining.
Possible Outcomes
Throughout the process, one of four outcomes may occur:
Move Forward – You'll be invited to continue to the next stage of interviews.
Not Selected – We may determine that your experience isn't the best match for this opportunity.
Future Opportunities – Sometimes we meet great candidates whose skills may be a stronger fit for a different role. With your permission, we'll keep you in mind for future openings.
Offered the Role – The role is a great match, and we'll extend an offer to join our team.
HOW TO PREPARE
During the Application Process
Tailor your resume to the role. Highlight the skills, achievements, and expertise that match the job you are applying for. Keep formatting simple and easy to scan, and proofread before you submit. If you include a note about why you’re interested, keep it authentic and brief.
AI tools can be helpful when you’re organizing your thoughts or brainstorming. But applications written entirely by AI can read as generic and may not reflect your real experience (and we can usually tell). If you use AI, use it to support your process—then make sure your own voice and perspective come through. Thoughtful always beats overly polished.
During the Interviews
You’ll likely be asked scenario-based questions during your interviews, so come ready with a few specific examples of how you’ve approached your work. A helpful way to structure your answers is the STAR method:
Situation
Set the scene, describe the context or challengeTask
Explain your responsibility or the goal you needed to accomplish
Action
Share the steps you took, focusing on your contributionsResult
Close with the outcome and what you learned
Choose a few real moments where you made an impact, and keep your examples clear, structured, and concise.
Prepare questions about the position, research Red Wing in advance, and be ready to explain why you’re interested in both the role and the company.
Helpful Hints
Virtual Interviews
Test your tech and setup ahead of time—audio, video, lighting, and background. If helpful, blur your background or use a virtual one. Dress business casual. (No need for a suit or a shirt and tie.)
In-Person Interviews
Your recruiter will send the address, directions, and a map. Review the details in advance and give yourself plenty of time to arrive. Your recruiter will also share any dress code guidance for the location.
For interviews at our manufacturing sites, we’ll provide any required PPE, and you don’t need to wear steel-toed footwear.
Be The First To Know
New roles open up often. Sign up and we'll let you know the moment one matches what you're looking for.
