Red Wing Celebrates 120 Years with Anniversary Capsule Collection
Red Wing marks its 120th anniversary with a celebration rooted in legacy and longevity—the release of the Capsule Collection and the burial of a time capsule to be re-opened 120 years from now in 2145.
Together, the collection and the time capsule pay tribute to enduring craft and serve as a promise that our boots—and the values behind them—will stand the test of time for generations to come.
The capsule reintroduces three archival-inspired styles, first released in the 1930s, 1950s, and 1960s: the Engineer, Pecos, and Logger boots.
The 2025 editions stay true to their roots while incorporating subtle updates for modern wear. Together, they honor our heritage and reinforce a core Red Wing truth: sometimes, staying the same is the most radical thing you can do.
To commemorate the occasion, we have buried a time capsule outside our corporate headquarters containing the full anniversary collection, archival artifacts, and design notes—a tribute to the past and a promise to the future. Designed to endure the next 120 years, the capsule is a symbol of what “built for all time” truly means. The plaque rests above the capsule, just outside of the southwest entrance of Riverfront Centre in Red Wing, MN.
From the first pair we made in 1905 to this anniversary collection, every Red Wing boot carries forward the same purpose: a good boot, like good work, never goes out of style.
